Hello friends,

Hope you all had a wonderful new year holiday and now sooooooo refueled, refreshed and ready to nail down every single thing this year.

This year is my 10th year doing music, guys, you have no idea how grateful I am, having you along the way. Somehow you are the best audience in Hong Kong any performer could ever have, and you know my intentions well. This year, I am gonna do something that fits me and you best: back to basics. I will keep writing, recording and doing shows, be as prolific as I could be.

OK, quick updates:

1: After the great concerts with sis Eman in Macau which we had great fun with the great band, and the great gigs in Hong Kong Arts Centre with my great piano man Edgar, I am thinking of another concert series during Easter in April 2012, in your most favourite venue.

2: The double album ‘I Love You Best’ (愛鄖書) would be released around the same time. SO many things about this project I wanna share with you. This is a project I have been working on nonstop for more than 2 years, no joke, and STILL refining the details. Now finalizing the second disc, I am still not quite sure, but it is probably the most out of the world project I have ever done. Song list will be released soon, but here’s one number from the album for now (yeah I shot and edited the video myself again, I think I am officially addicted):

3: A hits collection of the MANDARIN songs I wrote for other artists would be released soon, featuring 10 to 12 cuts. I will present you the hits’ original image, will strip the songs down to every note and breath, and make it as intimate as possible. Yeah. Again, song list will be released soon.

4: The 6th book of social conscious collective writings is pending, we are closing the deal with our publisher now, hopefully will be out this April.

5: new phase of online shop AND this dear site of ours.

6: Working on some reprinting of some old albums. But this time, I am gonna make some amends in mixing and mastering, or add a track or two, NOT overdo it but try to ‘refine the flaws’.

An exciting year, I CAN’T WAIT!

Hey guys!

Thank you so much for attending the two gigs: The Last Magic Day of 2011 & The First Magic Day of 2012.

The live DVD + CD combo is out, for overseas friends please visit www.sandymama.com where you might find a lot of other treasures too.

So. I promised you 3 albums in 2011, but you could only see One Magic Day available. OK, I have done the other two already, you will see them by the first half of 2012. The two Cantonese albums might come in a pair, named ‘I Love You Best’, 愛鄖書. One hint: you could google ‘I Love You Best’ and ‘鄖書’ and see what’s going on.

I am also excited to tell you that this site will go active again. After all these years, the community in the official site is really the best gathering place. Still working on the logistics with my dear designers, things are looking great.

HK is getting cold again, but not us. I know that for sure.

everyday is a new day

These words struck me hard. I might have misinterpreted it, or chosen to see what I wanted to see. But they struck me.

Once an album is out, it will take on a life of its own. The release day is like an ending of a dream, I wake up from it and get on with real life. Well in my case it’s a bit ambiguous, coz I move on to another project – dream. This dreaming cycle has been going on for years.

The thing is, I know it’s real. It feels so real that it hurts. I can tell I’ve been always on the ground, as I could only see the flaws in everything I have done. Only the flaws. Sometimes even one tiny little flaw could ruin the whole thing. I might be proud of something, but after a while I would just start to see it otherwise. Not good enough. Never a good enough singer, songwriter, producer, son, friend, boyfriend, student, boss…

Maybe that’s why I have been doing waves of projects nonstop. I kept on hoping that next time everything would be perfect, and that’s the only way that I could overcome the flaws. Just that the more I got into, the more flaws I created.

When one has learnt how to embrace the flaws, he could master the art of living. Apparently I am not. I sincerely hope you can, though.

Now things to look forward to:

陳奐仁Hanjin「Raw Jazz Live」

I wanted to call this event “The Hangenius Show”. He’s music, he’s talent, he’s everything without boundaries. How I want to be a jazz musician, how Hanjin reminds me what a real artist is just by singing and playing, how proud I am to be able to present his first concert in Hong Kong.

Everything Aunt Poon does is an inspiration. Now, we indie kids will come together to interpret her standards from 60′s to today, just for one night. On the other hand, I am so privileged to sing the only duet with the legend in the coming tribute album. I assure you I will be bragging about this in the coming ten years. At least. ;)

First we take Hong Kong Coliseum. Then who knows?

Another New Album Count Down

Hey guys!

Have been running around for this for more than a year.

Some said to me, well you might have already had put out 3 albums with the content, why you always accumulate things and pour them out at once?

Why not?

This is my ninth full album, more than a year apart form the last one “Travelogue 3″. I just love making albums, though it’s getting more and more difficult in many levels.

Well we all think that now time is bad. Hey people, time is never good. Well, time is never good unless you want it to be. It all depends on ourselves.

Actually in times like this we have to dedicate more power and resources to create something, not being so cautious in doing everything, calculating budgets, estimating profits and loss, worrying about audience size and stuff. That’s my believe anyway.

So, here we are. I would like to take you through this little journey of mine, by posting lyrics and thoughts about the new album everyday in the community forum.

world wandering

It’s been a while being on the road.

Still figuring out where should I call home next.

Switz cities – Vienna – Koln – Venlo – Berlin – Vancouver – New York – San Francisco – ?

All these years I have been making rounds of similar routines and similar patterns. Recording, taking them with me to the ends of the earth, listening through and through, snapping pictures along the way, writing more, brainstorming new ideas, going back to HK to refine them, then repeating all over again.

Lucky, or unlucky, to mix the cycle with some spice around my messed up bio clock.

Thoughts of my friends keep me warm, my work keeps me going, my longing for you-know-what keeps me moving around.

Here, sitting in my firends’ apartment in lower manhattan on a monday night, I am surrounded by tall empty commercial buildings, thinking of the places I have been to this year so far, and new friends I have made these 2 months, I wanna see Spiderman flying outside. Oh wait, it’s not Chicago.

They said the city now is low. Well no evidence so far, A&F is still packed, Broadway shows are still hot, cncerts are still in great demand, popular restaurants are still impossible to get a seat without waiting for an hour.

Low or high, might just depend on how we see it.

We need to live, not only survive, right?

Earth Hour 28/3

After been to various places witnessing the effetcs of global warming last few years, all coming back to me now. This time, let’s go down to the origin of all. Saving energy is the answer to all these, here comes Earth Hour.

WRONGWROKS x LYFE

Hey Guys!

First of all thank you for the feedbacks to the new website. We have been collecting a lot of valuable information to help us shaping it a better place, so there will be some changes made in the very very near future. Maybe another new one, with more simple settings.

Just got back from Europe, did some recording, wrote the theme song for the Earth Hour event organised by WWF. Nice guys, nice atmosphere, we had a great time doing the press conference.

And now, another exciting news: I will be going to Vancouver to sing for the S.U.C.C.E.S.S as some of you may have known. One concert in Westin Bayshore on the 27th, see you there then.

So, why not make the most out of the stay? On 28th, there would be a label crossoever launch party. A Canada based HK designer Tony of WRONGWROKS is collaboration with my label to do some t-shirts.

The little jelly mountain is actually the tentative new LYFE logo, while the funny face is something by Tony. We would have some great t-shirts for sale in his store, strictly limited AND super happy price (for you, sad for us hahaha)
